School Calendar & Term Dates

Claire Junior School follows Uganda’s official three-term academic year as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES). Our school year runs from February through December, giving every pupil from Nursery through Primary Seven, a structured, well-paced learning journey across three focused terms.

Each term is carefully planned to strike the right balance between classroom instruction, co-curricular activities, mid-term assessments, and national examinations.

The school follows the Uganda government’s official three-term academic year, as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES):

Note: Exact opening and closing dates are announced by the Ministry of Education and Sports each year. Parents are notified via school circulars and notice boards.

Term Overview

Term One — February to April

New pupils are admitted and inducted into the school community
Classes and timetables are set; the academic programme begins
Mid-term examinations held in Week 6 - 7 to track early progress
Parents' Day / Open Day — parents meet teachers and review pupil progress
School fees must be paid in full before or on the first day of school

Term Two — May to August

Core NCDC syllabus covered across all classes — Nursery to P.7
Co-curricular activities peak: sports, MDD, and clubs in full swing
Mid-term break provides a short rest for pupils and staff
Internal assessment examinations conducted towards end of term
P.7 candidates receive extra coaching and revision sessions

Term Three — September to December

Intensive revision and final examinations for all classes
Mock examinations administered to P.7 candidates before PLE
UNEB Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) — October/November
End-of-year report cards issued and signed by parents/guardians
End-of-Year celebration: concerts, cultural shows, and talent showcases

Examinations & Assessment

End-of-term internal examinations are administered in all classes from Nursery to P.6.
P.7 candidates sit the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) in October/November.
Report cards are issued at the end of each term and must be signed by parents/ guardians.
Promotion to the next class is based on academic performance and teacher recommendation.
Mock examinations are conducted in Term 3 to prepare P.7 candidates for PLE.

Claire Junior School is proud of its steadily improving academic performance. Our P.7 candidates have consistently achieved First and Second Division results in the PLE, reflecting our commitment to quality teaching and personalised pupil support.
